LAS VEGAS – They came from Overton, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, Las Vegas and Boulder City. The Sun’s annual high school football media invaded Red Rock Resort July 31 to take a look at the upcoming season. Not only is the event unique to Las Vegas, it’s believed to be one-of-a-kind nationally. Each school brought about three players, a coach and family members. With only a select few players advancing to play college football, this event is extra meaningful because it mirrors what’s at the next level.
Players took a team portrait — which is used for all season coverage in Greenspun Media Group products — and recorded a press coverage-style interview. Coverage was blasted on the Sun’s social media accounts and the #SunStandout Twitter timeline
generated 9,074,473 deliveries. The local CBS and NBC affiliates also provided coverage, and a GMG reporter was interviewed on two ESPN radio segments to discuss the event.
Special thanks to Red Rock for hosting, and Greens and Proteins for providing the food.
