LAS VEGAS SUN YOUTH FORUM 2023

On Monday, September 11, 2023, Las Vegas Sun celebrated its 65th annual Sun Youth Forum. Held at Ed W. Clark High School and in partnership with the Clark County School District, a selected group of students from across the valley were invited to share their thoughts and opinions on current issues in a conference style event. Pastries and coffee from Carl’s Donuts were prepared for teachers before the event began.

During lunch, students enjoyed sandwiches provided by Jason’s Deli and danced to music by DJ KayPlaya. A special surprise appearance by Las Vegas Raiders’ mascot, Raider Rusher added to the festivities. Following lunch, Las Vegas Sun Chief Executive Officer, Publisher & Editor, Brian Greenspun welcomed the group and led a special scholarship presentation with a number of lucky students winning scholarships from the Las Vegas Sun, Shelley Berkley, Nevada State Bank, and UNLV to the college of their choice. Custom Sun Youth Forum t-shirts from Nu World Graphics and cookies from Freed’s Bakery were gifted to moderators, teachers and staff that helped run the event.

On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, moderators and twenty-one student representatives elected by their peers were invited to Panevino Italian Grille for a celebratory lunch in honor of their participation in the 65th annual Las Vegas Sun Youth Forum. Moderators had the opportunity to share their experience within their room at the forum, and each student representative was acknowledged by Las Vegas Sun Chief Executive Officer, Publisher & Editor, Brian Greenspun and presented with Certificates of Recognition from Senator Jacky Rosen and Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. At the end of the luncheon, one lucky student representative was awarded a scholarship from the Las Vegas Sun.
