Las Vegas Sun

The Las Vegas Sun is a locally owned and independent Las Vegas news source first published on May 21, 1950. Born of a movement to aid the little guy, the Las Vegas Sun has performed a vital role in the Las Vegas community for more than 72 years. Founding publishers, Hank Greenspun [d. 1989] and Barbara Greenspun [d. 2010] have passed, but their legacy of intrepid and forthright journalism is embraced by Las Vegas Sun reporters and editors to this day. Brian Greenspun, Hank Greenspun's son, is the current Publisher and Editor of the Las Vegas Sun and is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Greenspun Media Group.

The Las Vegas Sun has continued its editorial excellence and community service into the 21st century, winning dozens of journalism awards (including the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, best news website by Editor & Publisher, the General Excellence Award from the Online News Association, and Columbia University's duPont Award, generally considered to be the most prestigious broadcast journalism award and its industry's equivalent of a Pulitzer Prize) over the decades while becoming one of the most honored local online news publications in the world. These awards reflect the Las Vegas Sun's commitment to quality journalism and public service, while continuing to provide quality coverage of breaking news, business, entertainment and local sports, plus the state's best political analysis.
